Health Care Reform

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) and the Health Care and Education Affordability Act (H.R. 4872) will have significant implications for employers and other organizations who self-insure group health plans. Some changes and requirements will take effect in the near term and others will not take effect for a number of years.

Independence Administrators is following health care reform closely to understand the effects that the new legislation will have on self-insured plans and plan sponsors. We continue to work to ensure that we are ready to administer the developing requirements and provisions that health care legislation will impose on our self-insured customers and their health benefits programs. While the legislation will make significant changes to the health care system, our commitment to providing value and service to our customers does not change.

As the legislation becomes effective over the coming months and years, we will work with our customers and their benefit consultants and support them in updating their plans.
